New Hampshire was good to Team Stewart-Haas this year, wicked good. The Lenox Industrial Tools 301 run at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire saw pole sitter Ryan Newman and his teammate/owner Tony Stewart, who started on the outside of the pole, take the checkered flag in the same order they started boosting the two team’s morale, points, and mood. Tony Stewart summed up the weekend by stating, “Man, this is one hell of a perfect weekend for Stewart-Haas Racing. It was a sweet 1-2 in qualifying and 1-2 in the race. I'm so damned proud I can't see straight." Stewart continued by commenting, “I was happy, period. I mean, you know when you're in that situation as an organization; it can't get any better than that. I can promise you, I didn't leave anything out there. That was as hard as I could run till the end. I couldn't get the rest of the way. I couldn't get any further than that." Finally Stewart crowed, “This is a perfect way to go into an off weekend, for sure. Especially going into Indy -- man, this is big for everybody at Stewart Haas Racing."

Newman is the thirteenth different winner in nineteen Sprint Cup races run this season. This marked his fifteenth victory to date. As mentioned, Tony Stewart took second place and the one two finish allowed both Newman and Stewart a bump in points. Denny Hamlin and his teammate Joey Logano at Joe Gibbs Racing claimed third and fourth respectively. Jimmie Johnson, five-time defending Sprint Cup champion came home fifth. Kasey Kahne posted a sixth, and veteran Bobbby Labonte wrangled an impressive seventh place finish. Martin Truex Jr. picked up eighth, Aussie Marcos Ambrose took ninth, and Kurt Busch sewed up tenth.

The Sprint Cup Points race finds Carl Edwards back atop the leader board after picking up one position and seven points ahead of second Jimmie Johnson who leapt three spots. Kurt Busch elevated one position to third while Kevin Harvick dropped one spot to fourth. Kyle Busch, after a terrible showing in Sunday’s race in New Hampshire, fell off the top spot dropping four positions to fifth. Matt Kenseth and Jeff Gordon stayed put in their respective positions of sixth and seventh. Ryan Newman, race winner, picked up one spot for eighth while Dale Earnhardt Jr. dropped one landing in ninth. Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, and Clint Bowyer stayed the same occupying tenth, eleventh, and twelfth respectively.

The Sprint Cup drivers find themselves off the weekend of July 22-24. They reconvene the following weekend on July 31st in Indianapolis for the running of the Brickyard 400. That race will be broadcast on ESPN on Sunday, July 31st at 1pm. For those NASCAR fans anxious for some great racing this coming weekend, check out the action in Nashville on Friday, July 22nd when the Camping World Truck Series takes the track at 8pm and is televised on Speed. The following night, Saturday, July 23rd catch the Nationwide Series from Nashville at 7:30pm EST on ESPN.
